ADMAPE continue support the two veterinary workers they trained who are now involved in regular tours of pastoralist regions. The two workers promote adherence to regular vaccination regimes and provide the medications. ADMAPE’s primary activity in this sector, though, has revolved more around the promotion of the production and use of fodder crops and the harvesting of hay (which did not take place at a commercial level before). They have set up linkages with irrigation farmers whereby the farmers grow irrigated fodder crops in the dry season which the livestock herders guard and graze their herds on. Savings in livestock in the region are estimated at 10,000 cows and 40,000 sheep and goats.
